Verlene Becker, 87, of Brenham, died on March 25, 2018, at Focused Care at Brenham. Burial will be at Prairie Lea Cemetery.

Verlene was born in Burnett, Texas, to the late Willie and Velva “Ellett” Kirk. On January 9, 1961, She was married to Alfred Becker by Rev. A.J. Mohr. She was a member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church and taught Sunday School for 10 years, and was a member of Wednesday evening women’s circle.

Verlene operated Verlene’s Beauty Salon for over 35 years. She enjoyed going to the Bluebonnet Opera. After she retired she went to the local nursing homes and did manicures for the residents. She loved to ride motorcycles with her husband and attended motorcycle shows. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Becker; and Velva Kirk, and two infant sisters.

Survivors include her daughter, Melanie Jacobs and her husband, Allen, of Brenham; and grandchildren, Brad Allen Jacobs and Kaylin Faith Jacobs. Q5
