Mr. Hundley operated Hundley Appraisal Service for over thirty years and worked for fun in recent
years as a weekend DJ. He was deputized as a volunteer member of the Henry County Sheriff’s department during the 1970s and 1980s. George was a member of Forest Park Country Club, Danville Shag Club, Eden Shag Club, and Collinsville Baptist Church. In his past, he was a member of Collinsville Lions Club, Collinsville recreation center baseball and football coach, and the state and local chapter of Ducks Unlimited.
He loved his family, friends, Shag dancing, Virginia Tech sports, golf, playing blues and Shag music as a DJ, metal detecting, family and Virginia history, story and joke telling, laughing, hunting and fishing.
George’s family tree consists of a direct line of over two hundred and thirty years of forefathers (Hundley, Ramsey, and Frith) who all lived within a thirty mile radius of George’s Collinsville home (Henry County, Franklin County or Martinsville).
Surviving is his wife, Dorothy Riddle Hundley of the residence; children, Wayland E. Hundley (and wife
Malissa) of Richmond, VA, Jane Lee Hundley O’Connell (and husband Judge James O’Connell) of Richmond, VA, Fran Hundley Tennant (and husband John Tennant) of Charlotte, NC. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Ashley Tennant, Julia O’Connell, Nicholas Tennant, and James O’Connell.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 30, 2018 from6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Norris Funeral Services, Martinsville Chapel. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 31, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Norris Funeral Services with Dr. Joey McNeal officiating. Burial will follow the service at Oakwood Cemetery.
