Mrs. Nannie Burke Herrick of 219 Kelvin Place, died today, July 31, 1957, at the Dodd Nursing Home, Elmira Rd. She had been ill for over two years.

Born in Statesville, N.C., Oct. 19, 1869, she was the daughter of Henry Theodore Burke teacher and editor and Margaret Clement Burke.

She was graduated from Peace College, Raleigh, N.C., in 1888 with honors in Latin and mathematics and became a teacher there. She attended several summer sessions and one full academic year at Cornell University and received the Ph.B. degree in 1897. During 1897-98 she taught French at Red Springs, now Flora McDonald College, Red Springs, N.C.

She married Glenn W. Herrick, Aug. 17, 1898 in Mocksville, N.C., and during the next 11 years lived in Mississippi and Texas. In 1909 she came with her family to Ithaca where she spent the rest of her life.

A member of St. John's Episcopal Church, she taught Sunday School there for years and took an active part in the Woman's Guild. She was a member of the Child Study Club of Ithaca and president of the club in 1915-16. She was also a member of the Ithaca Visiting Nurses' Assn. and served for a time as its secretary.

She is survived by her husband, Prof. Emeritus Glenn W. Herrick, two sons, Marvin T. Herrick of Urbana, Ill., and Stephen M. Herrick of Decatur, Ga.; a daughter, Mrs. Ann Herrick Raines Norman, Okla.; four grandchildren, Mrs. Susan Herrick Bosworth, Miss Katharine Nan Herrick, Glenn W. Herrick and Miss Margaret Ann Raines and a half sister, Miss Bertha Burke of Loray, N.C.
