When the family purchased a farm outside of Highland Park, Illinois, Hazel took on the task of modernizing and remodeling the farm to meet her growing family's needs. The home was the featured home in the Early Spring 1947 edition of Popular Home.
After the death of her husband, Hazel managed a motel in San Gabriel, California.
