Edwin was an early settler of the Bethsaida community in the northeast corner of Franklin county, Alabama. He was born in Georgia. His ancestors migrated from Maryland to North Caroloina to Goergia. After the death of his first wife, he migrated to Alabama and remarried. He served in the Confederate Army,in Captain Palmer's Company of Alabama State Reserves. He then moved his family from Fayette County, Alabama and purchased 160 acres in Franklin County, AL from Mr. Pearce Guinn in 1866. His log home still stands in the Bethsaida community and has been restored by his g-g-grandaughter. She and her husband have made it their home.
