Anna Bell (Smith) Barlar was born on September 24, 1861 in Pulaski, Tennessee, the daughter of W W Smith and Virginia (Napier) Smith.

She was married to William W Barlar, who died sometime before the 1910 census.

Living at 201 37th Avenue North in Nashville, Anna was 82 years old, a widow and had an old fractured femus when she fell at home on March 9, 1944. She died of terminal pneumonia on April 3, 1944 at Nashville General Hospital, and burial was two days later in Spring Hill Cemetery, Nashville.
