Nelda Yvonne Bristow, 84, born December 26, 1933, in Springfield, Texas, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 11, 2018, after struggling with Parkinson’s for several years. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Arlene Ward and Robert Bristow Sr; her brother and his wife, Robert and Donna Bristow; and her niece and husband, Carol and Dick Wills. She is survived by her niece and husband, Susan and Mike Wood; her niece and husband, Nancy and Paul Pridgen; her nephew, Kevin Bristow, and her nephew and fiancé, Craig Bristow and Susan Putman. Her great nephews and wives, Jason and Erin Wood; Jared and Rachel Wood, Phillip and Amanda Pridgen, Mathew and Shelley Pridgen, Anthony Pridgen and fiancé, Christine Wearing. Nelda was a graduate of Pearland High School, class of 1952. She continued her education at North Texas State in Denton where she graduated with her teaching degree. Most of her career was spent at Spring Branch Memorial High School as an English teacher. Teaching was the work she loved, but singing was her gift. She enjoyed several seasons preforming in comic operas with The Gilbert and Sullivan Society of Houston and then sang for many years in the choir at Christ Church Cathedral in Houston. After retiring, she returned to Pearland to take care of her mother. That turned into a retirement of taking care of many. She will be loved and missed by us all.

A celebration of Nelda’s life will begin Friday, March 16, 2018 with visitation from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Her funeral service will be held Saturday, March 17, 2018 at 10:00 AM. All services will be held at SouthPark Funeral Home & Cemetery in Pearland, Texas.
