Elbert Huffman 84 of Glen Burnie, Maryland, formerly of Stollings WV, was born February 3, 1934, departed this life on March 16, 2018 at the Gilchrist Center in Columbia, Maryland. He was the son of the late Ira Huffman and Wilma Sweatman. He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Huffman, one sister, Edna Dawson, one half-sister Melda Sweatman, one granddaughter, Jessie Murray, and one son-in-law Thomas Michael Browning.

Elbert is survived by three daughters, Kelly (Estel) Murray, Tina (Shane) Adkins and Deena (Tony) Toth, three grandchildren, Katie Murray, Trevor Browning and Josie Toth, one step-grandson, Cameron Adkins, and a host of family, friends and special loved ones, including Raymond “Potchie” Smith, Bob Morris, and Mike Lacy.

Before relocating to Maryland, Elbert was a faithful member of the Central United Baptist Church for 19 years. He was a 32nd degree Mason, recently celebrating 50 years with the Odell Lodge #115 in Madison WV. He was a member of the Beni Kedem Shrine, Logan Shrine Club and Logan Chapter No. 60 Order of the Eastern Star. Elbert was a Kentucky Colonel and member of the Fraternal Order of Police. Elbert retired from Logan Regional Medical Center Security Department after working 30 years. He also served as a Process Server under Sherriff Eddie Hunter.

Services will begin at 11:00 am on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at the Central United Baptist Church with Rev. Randy Skeens officiating. A Masonic Graveside Service and burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill, WV.
Friends may call from 6-9pm on Friday, March 23, 2018 at Evans Funeral Home and Cremation Services at Chapmanville, WV.

Pallbearers will be his Masonic brothers from Odell and Logan Lodges. Oval Adams, Woody Adams, Fred Butler, Mike Lacy, John McCormick, Bob Morris and Raymond “Potchie” Smith will serve as honorary pallbearers.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the DaVita Dialysis Centers in Logan, WV and Glen Burnie, MD for their care throughout the years. A very special thank you to Potchie and Lana Smith for their support during his final hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions, in Elbert’s memory, can be made to Central United Baptist Church, Logan, WV or The Gideon’s International, Logan-Mingo Camp, PO Box 1914, Logan, WV 25601.
