Galen Rex Dance, 81, passed away Saturday, March 17, 2018, at his home in Wendell, Idaho.
Galen was born December 30, 1936 in Thomas, Idaho, to David Theron and Martha Peterson Dance. He attended schools in the Snake River school district and graduated from Snake River High School.
He married Myrna Ellis on December 9, 1955 in the Idaho FallsTemple.
Galen worked road construction in his early years. After road construction, he returned to his love of farming, where he worked with his family. Later in life, he became a long-haul truck driver, team driving with his wife.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. His many callings included serving as a member of the bishopric, as Sunday School president and as a member of the High Council. He enjoyed working in his garden and yard. He especially loved to be with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Galen is survived by his wife, Myrna; his sons Bart (Cindy) of Thayne, Wyoming and Billy (Sallie) of Weston, Idaho; his daughters Mickie (Kent) Peterson of Shelley, Idaho and Sandi (Joe) Bowman of Grangeville, Idaho; brothers David (Diane), Alan (Rita), Blaine (Joan), Steven (Sharon), Evan (Sandi), Keith (Cindy), and Chad (Deanna); sisters Marva and Diane (Art) Jones; 20 grandchildren and 43 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Celia.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 24, 2018 at the Wendell 2nd Ward Chapel, 605 N. Idaho St. The family will greet friends and relatives from 6-8:00 p.m. on Friday, March 23, 2018 and for one hour prior to the service at the church.
