She was the daughter of Evan A. Prather Elkins and Martha Cooley. Joanna died 1855-1858; no known issue of this union.
2. Mary Jane Elkins, sister of Joanna, Dec. 5, 1858, Jackson Co., Indiana
One daughter, Martha Jane Noblitt, of this union.
Mary Jane died 1860-1868.
3. Elizabeth C. Cooley, Dec. 30, 1868, Bartholomew Co., Indiana
Two sons of this union, John Franklin Noblitt and Jacob Noblitt.
4. Mary Etta (Thomas) Douglas Hutchins, May 25, 1884, Jackson Co., Indiana
No issue of this union.

Joel Noblitt, of Peter's Switch, and an esteemed citizen, died at his home Tuesday, May 11, 1897, after a lingering illness.
