HORACE L. BROOKS CALLISON Horace Leroy Brooks, 85, of Union School Road, husband of Annie Mae Hart Brooks, died July 24, 1992 at the VA Hospital in Augusta, Ga. Born in Abbeville County, he was a son of the late Edward De-Witt and Rosa Lee Brooks. He had been employed by the Mathews Plant of Greenwood Mills and retired from Grendcl Mill. He was a US. Navy veteran of World War II and was a member of South Greenwood Church of God. Surviving, in addition to his wife of the home, are four sons, Horace Edison Brooks, Barney Lee Brooks, Johnnie Leon Brooks and Robert Wayne Brooks, all of Greenwood; a daughter, Kathren Brooks of Callison; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Services will be at 4:30 p.m. Monday at Harley Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. C. Parnell Coward, the Rev, James Childress and the Rev. James C. Ridgeway officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be grandsons. Honorary escort will be members of the Men's Sunday School Class of South Greenwood Church of God. The body is at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight. The family is at the home of his daughter, Kathren Brooks.
