James E. "J.B." Bennett, 57, died unexpectedly on Saturday, December 31, 2005 at 6:45 p.m. at St. Elizabeth Hospital. He was born in Columbus, OH on September 12, 1948 he had lived in Lafayette for the past 20 years. On June 15, 1979 he married Tina C. McGlothlin in Lafayette and she survives. Two sons, Fred L. Cavender (companion Jessie), Alton, IL, Justin Bennett (companion Stephanie), Tempe, AZ and one daughter, Alisha Bennett, West Lafayette survive.

He was a self-employed contractor for roofing and siding since moving to Lafayette. He volunteered for Habitat for Humanity and enjoyed spending time with his family, his cats, T.V. and collecting Tonka trucks.
