Mrs. HARRIET E. S. MULLINS, daughter of Horatio and Rebecca Clagett, was born in Maryland, May 29, 1810. Her father came to Hickman County Tenn., in her childhood. She professed religion and joined the Methodist Church when a girl, and was married to the Rev. William Mullins, of the Tennessee Conference, in 1829. Their home was in Bedford County for several years, but in 1856 they moved to Marshall County, and made their home five miles west of Lewisburg, where she was bereaved of her husband nearly fifteen years ago. She was the mother of twelve children; two died in infancy, ten became members of the Church of their parents in early life; of the seven survivors six witnessed the peaceful death of their devout mother. Her home was well known to the weary itinerants, and the preachers found her true and trustworthy. Well does the writer remember the devoted attention received at her home during his severe sickness in 1858. She was a rejoicing Christian, and was often happy during her last illness. She left her weeping children, Oct. 20, 1884, in full assurance of a home in the better country where half the former household have already gone. God grant that the seven left may so live as to be sure of living with the seven who have already crossed over the river.
