Clarence Mowery Andrews Kemrer Sr., 68, of 401 S. Prince St., died Sunday at Lancaster General Hospital after an illness of several years.
He was the husband of Gladys E. Denlinger Kemrer. Kemrer was retired from the Army, having served during World War II, the Korean Conflict and at the New Cumberland Army Base.
He was also employed by the Pennsylvania State Historical Association, working as a security officer at the Railroad Museum in Strasburg, retiring in 1980.
He was a member of the Company of Military Historians, American Military Insignia Collectors, National Rifle Association, U. S. Naval Institute, International American Society of Paper Money Collectors, National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors, Lancaster County Law Enforcement Officers, National Bank Note Society, and the American Numismatic Association.
Born in Lancaster, he was a son of the late Samuel and Bertha Mowery Andrews.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by these children: Phyllis V. Woodman, Reginald A., and Rexine Kiehl, all of Lancaster; Patricia Saucer, Virginia Beach, Va,; Audrey C., wife of Lt. Col. Dawson E. Heck, Grafton, Va.; Clarence M. Jr., Strasburg; Roger G., Washington Boro; 13 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Elias Andrews, Philadelphia and Phares C. Kemrer, Lancaster; and two sisters, Mrs. Christian Huber, Gap, and Dorothy C. Kemrer, Lititz.

After his mother died, Clarence was brought up by Phares D. Kemrer (1856-1951) and Lillie C. (Kramer) Kemrer (1868-1956) and given their last name. See 1920 and 1930 Census records.
