ALBERT WILSON HOWELL

June 15, 1921 - March 4, 2018

DURHAM: Albert W. Howell, born June 15, 1921 in Waynesville, NC to the late William Marcus Howell and Emma Irene Moody Howell, passed away peacefully at his home in Durham on Sunday, March 4, 2018. He resided with his daughter, Linda Carr Browne.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Howell was predeceased by his wife, Florence Lee White Howell; grandson, Jason Thomas Cross; and brother Bill Moody Howell.

Mr. Howell was a U.S. Navy veteran. During World War ll he served in most of the engagements in the Pacific. He sailed the USS Hornet from her commission until she was sunk in late 1942. He was a Deep Sea Diver and Damage Control Officer. He served his country proudly.

Mr. Howell is survived by his daughters, Sharon Cross (Jerry), Linda Carr Browne, Margie Bomar (Gayle); grandchildren, Leslie Simpson, Heather Gaddy, Jenny Harris, Darley Collins, David Bomar, John Paul Bomar; and great grandchildren, Christian Moore, Rainey
Moore, Gracie Gaddy, Blake Gaddy, Caroline Harris, Lindsay Harris, Sarah Parker Harris, Jace Harris, Sophie Harris, Cason Collins, Tyler Collins, Jack Bomar, Logan Bomar, Wesley Bomar, Carter Bomar.

A funeral service will be held at 11am on Saturday, March 10th at Clements Funeral Chapel in Durham. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the Gathering Room at Clements for a catered lunch. A graveside service will be held at 2pm Saturday at Woodlawn Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts will be accepted to The Logan Elyse Bomar Supplemental Trust.
