WATSONTOWN — John M. Bomberger, 64, of Gauger Road, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2005.
He was born March 29, 1941, in Penn Township, Lancaster County, the son of the late Homer D. and Naomi Miller Bomberger. On April 15, 1961, he married the former Dorcas E. Harnly, who survives. The couple celebrated 44 years of marriage.
A 1959 graduate of Lancaster Mennonite High School, John relocated to the rural Turbotville area with his wife in 1962.
He was employed as a salesman with Martin RV World, Danville, and with Animat Rubber Flooring. He also farmed most of his life. For the past three years, he and his wife operated the Whispering Meadows Bed and Breakfast at their home on Gauger Road.
A founding member of East District Mennonite Church, he was currently the care group leader and had also been a song leader, a Sunday school teacher and trustee.
Mr. Bomberger was a member of the original school board of Maranatha Christian School, Watsontown, a member of Gideon's International and was actively involved in mission projects internationally.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are three sons and daughters-in-law, Lamar and Beth Bomberger of Mifflinburg, Douglas and Lucinda Bomberger of Watsontown and Duane and Katie Bomberger of Turbotville; one daughter and son-in-law, Marcy and Arnie Miller of Watsontown; 11 grandchildren, Isaac Clark, Ashleigh, Caitlyn, Codey, Sofia, Summer, Shanae and Braden Bomberger and Rachelle, Trina and Collin Miller; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Velma B. and Paul Weaver of Manheim and Joann B. and George Weaver of New Holland; and one sister-in-law, Lois and her husband, the Rev. J. Robert Keller of Lititz.
A public visitation was held Saturday at East District Mennonite Church, Route 54, Turbotville, and Sunday at Christ Wesleyan Church, 363 Stamm Road, Milton, where the funeral followed.
Burial in East District Mennonite Church Cemetery, Turbotville.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in John's memory may be made to Maranatha Christian School, 1485 Plotts Road, Watsontown, PA 17777. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Brooks Funeral Home, 207 Broadway St., Turbotville.
