John Wefel died Monday at noon at his home near Preble, Adams county, after an illness of about four weeks, during which he suffered an affection of the liver. Mr. Wefel was well known in Fort Wayne and has a number of relatives living in the city. He was 54 years of age and was born and reared and lived the greater part of his life on the farm he owned at the time of his death.
The surviving family consists of his widow and one son, Daniel Wefel, who made his home with his father; one sister, Mrs. Mary Buck of Chicago, and a adopted daughter, Miss Malilda Wefel, and two brothers, Henry of Adams county, and William of 830 High street.
Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 1 o'clock, at the residence and at the German Lutheran church, near Preble, as soon as the trip can be made. The Rev. Mr. Clausing will officiate.
