John Willis Proffitt, Sr., 94, died peacefully, March 9, 2018. Born in Pelzer, he was the widower of Mary Frances Pratt Proffitt and a son of the late Moody Graham and Sue Burgess Proffitt. Mr. Proffitt was a U.S. Army Veteran and served his country during WWII. He was retired from Vulcan Materials and a longtime member of Liberty First Baptist Church.
Surviving are a son, John W. Proffitt, Jr. of the home; 2 daughters from a previous marriage, Debbie Villanueva of Aiken and Joni Iverson of Summerville; 4 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Grace Callaham of Greenville and Hazel Breeding of Florida; 1 brother, Charles Proffitt of Greenville and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife and parents he was predeceased by 8 brothers and sisters.
