Mrs. Joyce Eloise Taylor Talley, age 88, of the Ohoopee community died Thursday, March 8, 2018. Mrs. Talley was born January 11, 1930 in Chatham County and lived her early life in Tattnall County, then the rest of her life in the Ohoopee Community of Toombs County. She was a 1946 graduate of Lyons High School. She was a devoted Christian, wife, mother, grandmother, and aunt. She enjoyed gardening, feeding her wild birds, cooking, singing, and playing the piano. She was always the voice of quiet reason and showed her devotion of her faith in her daily life. Her sweet spirit will always be remembered by those who knew and loved her. She was a longtime member of the Ohoopee Baptist Church, where she played piano for many years, then attended Cedar Creek Primitive Baptist Church in Collins, Ga. She was preceded in death by her husband of seventy years, William Olin Talley; her mother, Mattie Lee Lynn Taylor Mosely and stepfather Ward Lester Mosely, Collins; father, Ernest Dewitt Taylor Sr.; half-brothers, Ernest Dewitt Taylor Jr., and Frederick Taylor, both of Toombs County; and son-in-law Walter Steele, Powder Springs.
The funeral service will be held Saturday, March 10th at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Reverend Jimmy Dupree officiating. Burial will follow in the Ohoopee Community Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday afternoon from 1:00 until just prior to the service.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Ohoopee Community Cemetery Fund, C/O Johnny McCullough, 2805 Hwy 292, Lyons GA 30436.
