FUNERAL OF MRS. TODD HELD TODAY
Remains of Lady Who Died In Texas Arrive here for Burial
The remains of Mrs. A. J. Todd, who died Wednesday at El Paso, Texas, arrived here yesterday afternoon and were taken to the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. L. D. Ray from which funeral services were conducted by Rev. Chas. Overstreet of the Presbyterian church, of which the deceased was a member assisted by the Eastern Stars.

Mrs. Todd was born west of this city, April 10, 1858, and was married in 1893 to Mr. A. J. Todd, who died in 1904. To them were born two children, one of which preceded his parents to the grave, one surviving, Leah, aged about 12 years.

Not long since, Mrs. Todd went Southwest for the benefit of her health but no improvement seemed possible and she was called from earth as stated above. She was well known here by many friends and was a woman of fine character and many personal charms. To the little daughter and to the parents and brothers and sisters the sympathy of all is felt. Besides her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ray, she leaves one brother, A. L. Ray, and tow sisters, Mrs. C. H. Farris, of Lerna, and Miss Laura Ray of this city. Interment was held in the Mound cemetery.

DEATH OF MRS. TODD ENDS FAMOUS CONTEST Lerna Woman Expires In New Mexico, Where She Had Gone for the Benefit of Her Health. Settled In Pleasant Grove Many. Lerna, Ill., January 18. Charles Parris, a well known farmer residing near this village, Wednesday afternoon at 3 o'clock received a message announcing the death in New Mexico of Mrs. Artie Todd, widow of the late Asahel Todd, of this township. It is thought the remains will arrive here either Saturday afternoon or Sunday, and that after the funeral services have been held the burial will be made in the Mound cemetery, at Charleston, beside the body of her late husband.

Mrs. Todd had gone to New Mexico several weeks ago for the benefit of her health, she having suffered with asthma for some time.

By the death of Mrs. Todd the suit brought by her to break the will left by her husband will come to an end. The estate is valued at $60,000, and it was owing, to the peculiar nature of the will that an attempt was made to break it.

In a trial before Judge Kimbrough the will was ordered probated, but in an appeal, tried before a jury, the will was declared to be invalid. D. L. Ray of Charleston, one of the executors, of the estate, appealed the case to the supreme court, where it is now pending.
