Mr. Lanier was a charter member of Upper Room Baptist Church (URBC) in Irondale. He was active in his church where he loved to be a part of building projects until the last few years when his health declined. He served in the CCC's & in the Army during WWII.

He was retired from Republic (LTV) Steel.

He was preceded in death by his infant son George H. Lanier Jr. and his loving wife of 61 years, Golda Francis Johnson Lanier (1924-2007). They were married September 27, 1946 in Jefferson County, Alabama.

George is survived by his children Dell Lanier & Renea (Ken) Taylor; grandchildren James (Stefanie) Lanier, Stephanie Lanier, & Emily (Garrett) Whipple; great-grandchildren Scott, Tyler, Aaron, Bryan, Austin, Cameron, Maiah, Mckenna, Kaiden, Jase, & Colton; and great-great-grandchildren Jaxon & Heather.

Services will be Sat., March 10 at Upper Room Baptist Church in Irondale with viewing at 12 pm and service at 1 pm. Graveside to follow at Forest Crest Cemetery, Irondale.
