DEMING, N.M. - Richard J. Tripp, 67, of Deming, N.M., formerly of DeKalb, died Thursday, Feb. 16, 1984, at Fort Bayard Medical Center in Bayard, N.M. 1 He was born on March 20, 1916, in Ainsworth, Neb., the son of Frank and Eva (Doyle) Tripp. He married Geneva R. Prather in 1945 and later married Margaret Jones in 1979. He was a farmer and also was employed as a truck driver for the Teamsters' Union. He was a member of the Teamsters' Union and was active in the Democratic Party. He was a former member of the Eagles' Club in DeKalb and was a member of the First United Methodist Church in DeKalb.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret, of New Mexico; one daughter, Diane House of Belvidere; four sons, David of Sycamore, Vernon of Riverside, Calif., and Richard and Robert, both of Hinckley; six stepchildren; 10 grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; one brother, Glee Tripp of Kansas; one sister, Esther Stolp of Fort Worth, , Texas; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Geneva, his parents and one brother.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Anderson Funeral Home in DeKalb, with the Rev. Joseph W. Fraccaro officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Memory Gardens in DeKalb. Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Monday.
