She died Sunday, May 10, 1998 at St. Luke's Midland Regional Medical Center in Aberdeen.
Edith Sarah Feller was born December 8, 1908, to Jason and Sarah (Bates) Feller near Andover. She grew up on a farm and attended the Bates-Scotland Township School. She graduated from Groton High School in 1927. She attended Northern Normal and Industrial School in Aberdeen. She taught school in Columbia and Pierpont.
She married Raymond E. Johnson on June 15, 1933, at Big Stone Lake. They made their home on a farm south of Groton. In 1951, they moved into Groton. They have lived there ever since.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Groton, the United Methodist Women, Chapter AC of the PEO Sisterhood, the Delphian Club, Daughters of the American Revolution, served as a committee woman for the Democratic Party for 50 years, served on the Groton Centennial Committee and was knowledgeable about the history of the area.
Survivors include her husband of Groton; one son, Jerry (Joan) Johnson of Groton; two daughters, Joanne May of Marina Del Rey, Calif., and Jeanne (Nicholas Capozzoli of West Nyack, N.Y.; and three grandchildren, Lisa Ford of Tucson, Ariz., Nick Capozzoli of Boulder, Colo., and Jerry Ray Johnson of Groton.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters.
