Alvin Luther Ballard Jr. Obituary

"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day." 2Timothy 4:7-8. A retired construction company business owner, he passed away at 7 a.m. Saturday, April 20, 2013, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. He was 69, a resident and native of Baton Rouge. Visiting at Greenwell Springs Baptist Church on Tuesday, April 23, from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., and Wednesday, April 24, from 9 a.m. until services at 11 a.m., conducted by Bro. George Threeton. Survived by his wife, Carolyn Dupuy Ballard; children, Brandi Ballard Corpuz and husband Lou of Maui, Hawaii, Whitney Ballard and fiancé Brian Devall of Virginia Beach, and Robin Ballard Roddy and husband Terrell; grandchildren, Jazmine and Trent Corpuz; two great-nieces, Samantha and Jewel Anderson; four great-nephews, Kaleb, Joshua, Jude and Jonas Clarke; and his only surviving Uncle and dear friend, Herbert Ballard. Also left to miss him are his nephew, Jim Clarke; and two nieces, Ashley Riddle and Shelley Riddle Anderson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin Sr. and Jewel Ballard; and son, Alvin Ballard III. Pallbearers will be Jim Clark, Bernell Ballard, Terrell Roddy, Brian Devall, Lou Corpuz and Trent Corpuz. Honorary pallbearer is Herbert Ballard. He was a graduate of Istrouma High School and attended Southeastern and LA Tech.
