Geraldine (Geri) Mary Magdeline (Appert) Kuntz was born July 30, 1926, to Tony and Marcella (Garske) Appert in Hazelton, ND. She was the third child in a family of twelve children and spent many years helping care for her younger siblings. She attended school in Hazelton, finishing her senior year at St. Mary’s High School in Bismarck, ND, graduating in 1944. She attended business college in Fargo, working at a small business after graduation. On November 26, 1947, Geraldine was joined in marriage to John James Kuntz of Napoleon and they moved to the Kuntz farm where John’s parents, Jacob and Theresia Kuntz farmed. Geri taught country school while helping run the dairy/grain farm. In January 1958, Geri suffered a major brain hemorrhage that left her disabled with severe cognitive and physical deficits. With determination, she regained a portion of her abilities. In 1967, John and Geri started a new business in Napoleon, Southside Implement, where they sold mostly Massey-Ferguson machinery.

Geraldine and John had six children, Deborah, Cynthia, Bethany, Jacqueline, Jon, and James. John passed away on October 5, 1991. Geri continued to reside on the family farm until 2014 when she moved to assisted living in Napoleon. Geraldine was an active member of St. Philip Neri Catholic Church. She enjoyed her family, gardening, reading, and playing the piano. She was an accomplished musician and most of all enjoyed classical piano.

Geraldine passed into the loving arms of our Lord Jesus late in the evening of March 1, 2018 at the Wishek Community Hospital, Wishek, ND. She was 91 years old.

Geraldine is survived by her six children, Deborah Olson, Cynthia L. (Anton W.) Doll, Bethany (Arlynn) Becker, Jacqueline (Wayne) Delgado, Jon (Pam) Kuntz, and James (Jeri) Kuntz; eleven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren; one sister, Yvonne (Loren) Lee; four brothers, Clem (Joann) Appert, Jerry (Renee) Appert, Fred (Dorothy) Appert, and Damian (Doreen) Appert; two brothers-in-law, John Cochlan and Richard Lipp; and two sisters-in-law, Bonnie Appert and Tian Appert.
