Violet M. Wertz Abell, 78, of Vinton, went to be with the Lord on Monday, September 26, 2005. She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis P. Abell, Sr.; one son, Louis P. "Louie" Abell, Jr., and is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Gary Wheeler of Vinton, Deborah and Anthony Gregory of Williamsburg; one son, William R. Abell II of Roanoke; six grandchildren, Tammy Burton and her husband, Randy, Diane Eades and her husband, Justin, Melanie Gregory, Justin Gregory, Nicholas Potter, Jesse Abell; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Katherine Agee and Sylvia Webb. The family would like to thank the staff of Springtree Nursing Home for their loving care and support given to their mother during her final days. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, September 29, 2005 at Mountain View Cemetery with Pastor Rob Colwell officiating. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 2728 Colonial Ave. S.W., Suite 2, Roanoke, Va. 24015 or the American Heart Association, 4504 Starkey Rd., Suite 115, Roanoke, Va. 24014. Arrangements by Oakey's Vinton Chapel, 982-2221.
