W.S. Bearden Rites Set Today
Insurance Company Executive Succumbed in Office Yesterday
Funeral services for Walter S. Bearden, 60, executive of the National Life and Accident Insurance Company who died suddenly yesterday morning shortly before noon at his office of a heart attack, will be held this afternoon at 4 o'clock at Westminster Presbyterian church with the Rev. W.E. Phifer officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
A native of Bedford County and son of the late Chancellor and Mrs. W.S. Bearden, Mr. Bearden attended the University of Tennessee. he came to Nashville about 35 years ago to work for the insurance company with which he was associated at the time of his death.
Mr. Bearden was made secretary of the company about 25 years ago and later was made vice-president and a director. he was a member of the Westminster Church and had held the office of elder there for a number of years.
He is survived by his wife, the former Miss Elizabeth Thomas of Nashville; son, Walter S. Bearden, Jr.; daughter, Mrs. Mary Louise Harwood, all of Nashville; a grandson, W.S. Bearden, third, and two sisters, Mrs. Hans Gebers of Murfreesboro and Miss Mary Bearden of Shelbyville.
