Mrs. Betty J. Chittum, 42, 386 W. Sixth St., died 3:30 a.m. Thursday in the Dukes Memorial Hospital. She underwent surgery Wednesday. Born in Peru, Aug. 10, 1928, she was the daughter of John E. and Mary Ellen (Merrins) Wylie. She was married to Ted Chittum, Aug. 31, 1950, and he survives along with her mother of Peru; one daughter, Mrs. Rob Mulliken, Peru; two sons, Ted and Brad Alan, both at home; one sister, Mrs. Orion Toepfer, Wabash, and a brother, John Wylie, Rosedale. She was a member of the Main Street United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the Eikenberry Funeral Home with the Rev. H. P. Gaines officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 6 p.m. Friday.
