Marion, NC - Frances Sheehan, 85, of Nebo, NC, passed away on Tuesday, February 27, 2018, at McDowell Hospital in Marion.

Mrs. Sheehan was born in Avery Co., NC, on January, 3, 1933, to the late Frank Goins and Claire Moody Benfield.

She loved the Lord and was a member of First Baptist Church of Nebo. Before she became disabled, Mrs. Sheehan worked at Leviton Southern Devices in Morganton.

Mrs. Sheehan was an easygoing person who loved to make quilts, enjoyed gardening, loved riding around and enjoying the scenery of the mountains. Christmas was her favorite holiday and she went all out on decorating. She really enjoyed that time of year. Her family meant everything to her and her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the joy of her life.

In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband, Loner Sheehan; her siblings, Martha Calloway, Nola Benfield, Justin Benfield, George Benfield, Pauline Tate, Carrie Goins, and Frank Richard Goins; grandchildren, Donnie Edwards and Susan Renee Edwards.

Surviving Mrs. Sheehan are her sons, Allen (Susan) Sheehan of Nebo, NC and Billy Sheehan of Marion; a daughter, Carolyn Moody of Marion; grandchildren, Amy (Monty) Hall, Jeremy (Tarah) Sheehan, and Lonnie Edwards; siblings, Hazel Calloway, Pat Scarlet, Myrtle Benfield, Katie Benfield, Andrew Thomas Benfield, Jr., Bill Larry Benfield, Joe Hardy Benfield, Nancy Combs, Wilma Goins, Ruby Goins, Ted Goins, Max Goins, Jackie Goins, and Bill Goins; great-grandchildren, Myiah, Jonah, and Jack Sheehan, Josiah, Jordan, Jeremiah and Madalyn Hall.

A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, March 2, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Kirksey Funeral Home in Marion, with Jonathan Honeycutt officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow the service at McDowell Memorial Park.
