Son of the late William H. and Mary S. (Babineau) Mageary. He was a 1939 graduate of Lynn English High School.He was an Army veteran of WWII and served with the Army 399th Engineers in the Pacific Theatre. He was a painter and foreman for the Mass. Water Resources Authority for 28 years. He was a member and former Vice-president of AFSCME Union Local 1221. He was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church, Swampscott.
