Aldena Ruby Harris, age 89, of LaOtto, Noble County, IN died at 4:42 p.m. on Tuesday, March 6, 2007 at her LaOtto residence. Born in Wolf Lake, Noble County, IN on November 16, 1917, she was the daughter of Dae H. and Hattie A.(Gay) Targgart.
She was a lifetime resident of Noble County, living at her present home since 1970. She graduated from Wolf Lake High School with the Class of 1935 and Warner Beauty College, Fort Wayne, IN. On November 14, 1937, she was united in marriage to Everett O. Harris in Noble County, IN. A housewife, homemaker, and staff investigator for Indiana State Beauty Board, she owned and operated a beauty shop in her own home for many years. Her memberships include Sugar Grove Church of God and the Noble County 4-H Club, Inc., where she was a former leader.
Survivors include 1 daughter, Rochelle A. (James) Olds of Lagrange, IN; 2 sons, Ronnie A. (Carol) Harris and Robert A. (Henrietta) Harris both of LaOtto, IN; 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Thomas O. (Donna) Targgart of Churubusco, IN. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Everett O. Harris, who died on April 5, 1998, 2 brothers, Dae Targgart Jr. and Glen Targgart and 1 granddaughter, Lynn Rose Harris.
Visitation will be held from 2-8 p.m. Thursday, March 8, 2007 at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City, IN. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 9, 2007 at the funeral home, with Pastor Tim Grable of Sugar Grove Church of God officiating. Burial will be at Merriam Christian Chapel Cemetery, Merriam, IN.
