JOHNSON, James R., 86, of Dade City, died Sunday, afternoon, Feb. 2, 2003. A native of Wauchula, Fla., he moved to Dade City in 1951 from Ft. Myers, Fla. Originally a manager for Belk Lindsey in Ft. Myers, he was the manager of the Belk Lindsey in Dade City from 1951 to 1963. He established Tatum & Johnson Department Store in 1963 which he owned and operated until 1981. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Gardner, Fla. and was a longtime member of the Kiwanis Club of Dade City.

He is survived by his wife, Dattie Johnson; one son, Jimmy Johnson of Dade City; one nephew, Clinton Johnson, Jr. of North Carolina; and a niece, Mary Elizabeth Edwards of Sunrise, Fla. Funeral services will he held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday at the Coleman & Ferguson Funeral Home. Entombment will follow at the Chapel Hill Gardens Mausoleum.
