Mrs. Bettencourt was born in Merced and was a resident of Newman for 60 years. She was a parishioner of St. Joachim's Catholic Church in Newman. She was an avid reader and enjoyed cooking, gardening and loved to spend time with family and friends.
Mrs. Bettencourt is survived by her son, Joseph E. Bettencourt of Newman; daughters, Julie Silveira of Newman, Joyce Souza and Joan Dias both of Patterson; brothers, Raymond Santos of Turlock and Andrew Santos of Hilmar; sisters, Anita Hamilton, Lillian Costa-Santos both of Turlock, Mary Lennon of Merced and Retha Santos of Gustine; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Bettencourt.
