Barbara J. Smith, 76, of Bliss Road, St. Johnsville passed away on Saturday March 15, 2014 at Little Falls Hospital with her loving family by her side.

She was born August 15, 1937 in Emmondsburg, NY the daughter of the late Wendall & Flossie (Moore) Cool. Barbara was a graduate of Stratford Central School and was class valedictorian.

She was married to Gerald J. Smith, Sr. who passed away on November 16, 1999.

Mrs. Smith was last employed with the Oppenhiem & Ephratah School District as a dedicated and faithful bus driver. Throughout the many years of driving school bus, Barb had a special bond with all the students. She loved her trips with the OE band and the directors, Diane Mott, Marsha Schoff and Mrs. Hammer who she enjoyed traveling with throughout her employment at the school.

A sincere and charitable soul, Barbara’s sweet maternal nature enabled her to form unique and special bonds with each of her family members.

Survivors include her loving children, Richard Dager and companion Linda Getman of Lassellsville, Gerald J. Smith, Jr. and companion Jill Mosher of Oppenheim, Vicky Dager and companion Gary Lamphere, Sr., of Salisbury, NY, Debra Sicilia and companion Richard Steele of Oppenheim and Teresa Dager and companion Mathew Wright of Dolgeville; a brother, Gregory Cool and wife Linda of North Dakota, three sisters, Betty Leonard of Salisbury, NY, Wendy Tallman and companion Sam Sterusky of Little Falls, and Daisy Sterusky and companion Warren Lamphere of Salisbury, NY; two step-daughters, MaryJane Hoage and husband Harry of St. Johnsville and Jerrilynn Smith of Little Falls;13 grandchildren, Craig Dager and companion Kristie Mowers of Dolgeville, Nicholas Dager of Oppenheim, Laura Dager of Glenville, Wade Smith of Little Falls, Larry Sanders and companion Kim Stallman of Oppenheim, April Sicilia and companion Cassidy Marchev of Whitesboro, Chad Silicia of Gloversville, B.J. Christman and companion Shannon Smith of Oppenheim, Crystal Christman and companion Chris Rumrill of Oppenheim, Kyle Smith of Gloversville, Marybeth Hoage and companion Vickie Roth of Watertown, Travis Johnson of Dolgeville and Samantha Johnson and companion Anthony Lang of Johnstown, several great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She is also survived by in-laws, Hank Smith of St. Johnsville, Evelyn and Thomas Miles of Lassellsville, and Ralph Smith of Oppenheim.

Spring burial will be in Salisbury Rural Cemetery.
