She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings: brothers; Ervin Hicks, Homer Hicks and Harlan Hicks; sisters; Ethel Lowder and Jessie Murry.
Lena was a cosmetologist in her younger years, spending time in California. Lena married Nelson Andrew Adams on September 18, 1959 and waited nearly 10 years before they were able to adopt.
Left to cherish and hold her memory close are: daughter and son-in-law and their two children, grandson, two nephews, many great nieces and nephews and close family friends.
Lena was of Southern Baptist faith and a longstanding member of Harvey’s Chapel Baptist Church. Many a note and written prayers have been found under her pillow throughout the years and can still be found in her family Bible whenever something worrisome was on her mind, especially concerning her kids and grandkids. She loved to fish and enjoyed numerous campouts and fish fry’s at Hicks Point and making cookies for the trips, even if one time they were “judged” to be burnt.
Alzheimer’s is a terrible disease that takes your loved one away daily a little bit at a time, but the care and compassion she has received compels the family to acknowledge the loving staff and support she has received from Village Springs Health and Rehab over the last four years and the most recent compassionate support from Dierksen Hospice. Live, Laugh, Love everyday because you never know how much time you have. Rest now Mimi and hug Pop, you’re back home at last.
Visitation will be held from 5:00pm - 7:00pm on Thursday, February 22, 2018 at Davis-Smith Funeral Home, 2205 Airport Road in Hot Springs (Pearcy area).
Chapel Services will be held at Davis-Smith on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at 10:00am. Interment will be in Lowe Cemetery immediately following services.
