Eleanor and her husband, Jim Hicks, started the first athletic club in Vancouver, Oxford Athletic Club, in 1960. It started with a pool, pit trampolines and gymnastics, and later included racquetball, aerobics and weight rooms. Eleanor's sister, Margie Lucke and her husband, Ferd, joined them as partners, and the club continued for 50 years.
Eleanor was deeply loved, celebrated life and gave of herself in so many ways we will never forget. One of her greatest loves was her flowers, and she had a "green thumb" like no other. We all were blessed with her gifts of plantings and geraniums-a marker of her love.
Eleanor is survived by her daughter, Linda Angelo (Corky); grandchildren, Heidi Foster (Eric), Angie Friauf (Trey), Jim Hicks (Beth), Don Buss (Michelle), Albert Angelo (Jessica) and Sheldon Angelo; 12 great-grandchildren, Morgan Meador, Braden Meador, Sydney Friauf, Riley Friauf, Sophie Friauf, Will Buss, Ellie Buss, Jeffrey Hicks, Maddie Hicks, Bryce Foster, Albert Angelo IV and Alivia Angelo.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Hicks; and son, Lon Hicks.
Services will be held Sat., Sept. 16th, 3:00 p.m. at Evergreen Memorial Gardens with a reception following. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Women's Leadership Center of YWCA Clark Co. and Peace Health Hospice.
