Ray worked for AMF until their closing. He then worked as a truck driver for Snyder Trucking and Cryogenics. He enjoyed watching TV and movies.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Margaret “Meg” Huxford; children, Babetta (Larry) Haus, Paul Huxford, Virginia Moose, and Armetta Wireman; step-children, Marta (Jeremy) Snow and Morgan Green; sister-in-law, Nancy Huxford; eight grandchildren: Brad, Danyelle, Matthew, Amber, Sarah, Jacob, Grace and Max; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Betty, brother, Rex and daughter, Carolina (Chickie) Huxford.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by funeral service at 12:00 p.m., Friday, February 23, 2018, at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th St, Des Moines. Burial will take place at 2:00 p.m., Friday at St. Mary’s Cemetery, near Woodburn, Iowa.
