Helen A. (Burke) Delemarre, 90, of Newington, wife of the late John B. Delemarre, passed away peacefully in her home, with her family by her side, on Friday (June 18, 1999).
Born in Middletown, she lived in Newington for over 55 years. Helen served as the Registrar of Voters and later as the Town of Newington Tax Collector for over 20 years, retiring at the age of 79, in 1988. Mrs. Delemarre was the past president of the Connecticut Tax Collectors Association and the Newington Historical Society. She also served as a member of the Republican Town Committee and the Federated Women's Club.
Helen is survived by her daughter, Ann Delemarre Yousef and son-in-law, Hasan, with whom she made her home; two grandchildren, Danielle Delemarre Rogol of St. Helena, CA, Rev. and Mrs. David S. Rogol of Worcester, MA; two great-grandchildren, Jonathan Mayer and Benjamin Thomas Rogol; her sister, Mrs. Dorothy B. Davies of Chester; several nieces and nephews. Helen was predeceased by two sisters, Frances B. Reddick, and Hester Mongillo; and three brothers, John, Arthur and Charles Burke.
