Lillie May Skelton was the daughter of John Gibson Skelton, Jr. and Alice Matilda Snyder. In 1893 the Skelton family moved to Ashland as did Lillie's maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Snyder so long identified with the Ashland community. She was educated in the Ashland schools, and graduated from the High School class 1905.

She married Robert Newton Nunemacher, son of Charles B. Nunemacher and Ariette (Ettie) Smith, 6 May 1906 in Ashland, Clark County, Kansas.

Robert and Lillie lived in Ashland, Kansas most of their married life. There, they were both members of the local Methodist Church. They both loved gardening and music. Lillie was living at the Lone Tree Lodge in Meade, Kansas at the time of her death. She passed away at the Meade, Kansas hospital. A funeral was held for Lillie on Tuesday, 23 April 1962, at the First Methodist Church in Ashland, Kansas.

Her husband, Robert, preceded her in death. Surviving were one son and two daughters.
