"At Pringle last Monday, the four year old child of Sam McAdam wandered away from home and became lost. Mr McAdam was in the timber cutting wood and his wife thought the little one had gone to him, but afterwards found that he had not been seen since his father left the house. A searching party was then instituted but not until the evening of the next day was the dead child found, about four miles from home. He probably died from exhaustion and cold, though the weather was hardly cold enough to freeze. The family is grief stickened over the terrible affliction." The paper persisted in calling him 'it" and at one point seems to call the father "it" I have no idea why that is. The same story was in the Hot Springs Star, we don't have a Custer Chronical for that year.
