Margaret Lamb Hills ("Peg"), 100, passed away Friday, February 9, 2018. She was born February 23, 1917 in Charleston, SC, a daughter of the late James Murphy Lamb and Mary Emma Boone Lamb. She was predeceased by her husband, Thomas Trenholm Hills and a son-in-law, Frankie C. Bates.

Peg attended Mary Washington College before moving with her husband to Myrtle Beach in 1954. They became members of First Presbyterian Church of Myrtle Beach in 1954, where Peg founded the first kindergarten at the church (now known as the Growing Tree), which she operated and taught at for twenty-seven (27) years.

She was secretary-treasurer of Hills Construction Company. She also taught Sunday School and served as a leader for Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts. She was an active member of the Lydia Circle at FPC and received the Presbyterian Women Honorary Life Membership Award in 1978. She was an active member of the Genevieve Chandler Book Club for over 50 years.

She is survived by her four children: Thomas T. Hills, Jr. (Gloria), James L. Hills, Sr. (Carolyn), Margaret Hills Bates "Peggy", and William E. Hills "Billy" (Karen); nine grandchildren: Thomas T. Hills, III (Sara), Brian I. Hills (Kelly), William B. Hills (Eleanor), Frank C. Bates (Amy), M. Lauren Rice (Charles), William M. Bates, James L. Hills, Jr. "Jamie" (Caroline), Jennifer D. Hills (Craig Stegner), and Jessica C. Hills; and five greatgrandchildren.

The family wishes to thank Peg's caregivers for their unwavering love, care and compassion.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, February 17, 2018, at the First Presbyterian Church of Myrtle Beach. The family will receive friends following the service. The family will have a private committal service at North Myrtle Beach Memorial Gardens.
