Orin Henning, 88, of Galesburg, a Loraine native, died at 6:20 p.m. Tuesday (April 29, 1986) in the St. Mary Hospital in Galesburg.
Mr. Henning was born June 17, 1897 in Loraine, a son of John and Sarah Ashcraft Henning. He married Fairy Marie Price in Quincy, May 14, 1921. She survives. He was a Navy veteran of World War I. Henning worked 35 years as an engineer for the Burlington Northern Railroad and later was employed by the Continental Clothing Co. at Galesburg, retiring in 1953. He was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church where was superintendent of the Sunday School, Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers, Burlington Veterans and the Senior Citizens group in Galesburg.
Surviving are two daughters, Vivian Tulloss of Phoenix, Ariz. and Hazel Carlberg of Vienna, Va.; nine grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in the Faith United Methodist Church by the Rev. David Wells and Donnelly Fitzpatrick. Burial will be in the Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens in Galesburg. Memorials may be made to the Faith United Methodist Church in Galesburg. The Hinchliff-Pearson-West Chapel is handling arrangements.
