OBITUARY: Palestine (TX) Herald-Press, Friday, 14 November 1947:
Funeral services were held in the Elkhart Methodist Church at 3 p.m. Friday for Columbus W. Brown, 67, for Anderson County resident and father of Mrs. Tony Walston of Palestine.
Mr. Brown, a resident of San Augustine, died in a Nacogdoches hospital Thursday morning following a heart attack.
Services were conducted by the Rev. Carl Reynolds of Houston, assisted by the Rev. Reisner of San Augustine.
Mr. Brown is survived by his widow, Mrs. C. W. Brown, San Augustine; three daughters, Mrs. Walston, Palestine; Mrs. Laverne Moore, San Augustine, and Miss Ruth Brown, San Augustine; one brother, Tom Brown, Elkhart; two sisters, Mrs. Etta Griffin and Mrs. Annie Martin, Louisiana, and three grandchildren.
