Marjorie Louise Davis was born in Chickasaw, Alabama, on July 7, 1919. She was the youngest of 5 children. Her father died when she was young and her mother raised the kids. She attended Bob Jones University and majored in History and English. After college she worked at a radio station and produced weekly shows that included hymns, scripture, and poetry. She loved to sing and would solo whenever the opportunity arose. She met her future husband Fred in 1947, while working on an Air Force base in Alabama as a secretary. They lived all over the world in places such as California, Japan, Virginia, Cuba, Florida, and ended up in San Diego in 1962 after Fred retired. After fifty-two years of marriage, Fred died in 1999.
