Joseph Rex Burns, 69, died Saturday, February 3rd after a long struggle with heart and lung disease. Joe worked for Hunt Wesson 35 years before retiring. He did air conditioning work as well as repair lawn mowers. He was most happy when he was busy working on a project, tending to his yard, or helping a friend in need. We all loved Joe for his story-telling, which he was very skilled at. Joe enjoyed being at his place at Sardis...going fishing, four-wheeling, entertaining his family with pontoon adventures on the lake. He was dearly loved by many and will always be remembered. He married Linda, the love of his life and best friend in 1972. They had 33 years together, before her passing in 2005. They shared a love of fishing and family. Joe was preceded in death by his wife, Linda; his father, James; mother, Belle; brother, Fred; sister, Vada Elizabeth; step-brother, Jimmy and step-sister, Sarah Alice. He is survived by his son, James of Olive Branch; his daughter, Lisa Abbott (Cary)of Newburgh, NY; his brother, Robert (Brenda); six grandchildren, one great-grandchild, nieces and nephews. We love you... spread your wings! The family will receive friends Friday, February 9th from 6-8p.m. and funeral service Saturday, February 10th at 10a.m. at Family Funeral Care. The burial will take place at Elmwood Cemetery. Arrangements by Family Funeral Care, Memphis, TN (Obituary published by Family Funeral Care)
