GARNER: Ernest Fulton Barbour, 82, died Monday morning at his home. Born January 4, 1920 in Johnston County, he was a son of the late Ernest Calvin and Ellie Mayton Lassiter Barbour. A welder by trade, Fulton had worked with Ted Wallace Welding and later with Buffalo Tank in Raleigh for 29 years before retiring. He enjoyed fishing and raising fishing worms, which he did after retirement until 1994 when he began having trouble with his legs and was just unable to care for the worms. He was a member of Mount Herman Christian Church for 35 years.

Funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home in Selma with the Rev. Eddie Franks and the Rev. Alex Poindexter officiating. Burial will follow in the Hills of the Neuse Memory Gardens.

Surviving are his loving wife of 63 years, Blonnie Creech Barbour; sons, Harold F. Barbour of Boca Raton FL, Roger D. Barbour and Ricky Barbour, both of Clayton; daughters, Portia G. Williams and Gail Barbour Whitaker, both of Raleigh; sister, Edna B. Glover of Bailey; brothers, Dwight Barbour of Fuquay-Varina, Rev. Swade Barbour of Four Oaks, Ronnie Barbour of Prescott, AZ; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
