Ira A. Noggle, 63, farmer of near Marengo and native of Marion County, died Friday at home. He had been ill 12 hours.
Born Sept. 9, 1891, he was a son of Frank and Lucy Dixon Noggle. Before going to the Marengo community he was a resident of Marion County 54 years. A veteran of World War I, he served as a private in Co. E, 363rd Infantry, in France. He was inducted June 24, 1918, and received his discharge April 23, 1919.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Grace Noggle, whom he married Sept. 9, 1946, at Greenup, Ky., and four children by a previous marriage, Mrs. Mary Griffith of Richwood, James Noggle of Warrensburg, Mo., Richard Noggle of Prospect and Mrs. Melva Jean Berry of LaRue; two step-children, Mrs. Ruth Alexander of Marion and Clifford Lumberson of Marysville; 13 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and a brother, Percy Noggle of Marion.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 2 p.m. in the Merle R. Hughes Mortuary on Mt. Vernon Ave. in Marion. Rev. J. B. Holloway will officiate. Burial will be in Price Cemetery at Essex. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7:30 tonight.
