He served six years in the Marine Corps Reserves, during which time he married his junior high sweetheart of many years, Marilyn (Lynn) Bradley, in 1971. Richard began his career in his family’s car business in 1970, where he worked for more than 40 years. Under his guidance, Pugmire Lincoln-Mercury won many national and regional awards and was recognized as one of Lincoln’s top dealers. Richard served 30 years as a dedicated board member of the Salvation Army (Atlanta region), for which his grandparents dedicated their lives and held the highest office in the 1940’s.
He was an incredible husband, father, son, grandfather, businessman, Marine, Dawg fan and sportsman. He especially loved hunting deer, turkey, and birds with his family and friends. Mr.
Pugmire is survived by his wife Lynn Pugmire and his daughter-in-law and son Allison and Austin Pugmire of Madison, GA, his daughter Helen Pugmire Skipper of Marietta, GA, and his son Peyton Pugmire of Marblehead, MA, and five grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his mother and father Minnette and John Pugmire.
Funeral services was held at Peachtree Presbyterian Church, 3434 Roswell Rd NW, Atlanta, GA 30305. Burial was at Arlington Memorial Cemetery, located at 201 Mt Vernon Hwy NW, Sandy Springs, GA 30328. Donations may be sent to The Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center at Duke University Hospital in Durham, North Carolina, 20 Duke Medicine Circle, Clinic 3-1, Durham, NC 27701. H.M. Patterson and Sons, Arlington Chapel, 173 Allen Rd NE, Sandy Springs, GA 30328 was in charge of arrangements.
