Services were held this morning in the Chapel of Macy & Son Funeral Directors for Helen Parrish Beeler of Spokane, listed as the oldest native of Dayton.

Mrs. Beeler died June 21, 1983, in Spokane. She was 97. Interment was in Evergreen Memorial Park in McMinnville.

Born Dec. 22, 1885, she was the daughter of Bird and Vashti Parrish of Dayton. She was raised and educated in the community and lived there until 1913.

She and Jay P. Beeler were married in 1913. They homesteaded in southwest Oregon, but later sold the property back to the government and moved.

Although leaving Dayton permanently as a resident, Mrs. Beeler returned frequently for visits. Since living there, she had resided in Amity, Newberg and Seattle, before settling in Spokane, where she lived for several years until her death.

She was a member of the Dayton First Baptist Church.

Survivors include a son, Jay P. Beeler of Spokane; two daughters, Helen Branscombe of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Alice Karchefski of Paragould, Ark.; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
