A life-long resident of Tippecanoe County, she graduated from Dayton High School in 1941 and was employed by Fairfield Manufacturing Company in Lafayette, serving as an executive secretary before retiring in 1961. While at Fairfield, she met and married David Wendell Owens.
She enjoyed spending time with family, traveling, cooking, reading, and spectator sports.
Surviving are two nephews, Steven E. (wife Mary Ellen) and William R. (wife Pequetta) and a stepdaughter, Sally Heath of Chicago, IL.
She was preceded in death by her husband, brother, Earl C. Funk, Jr., and sister, Marilyn F. Widmer.
Visitation will be from 5:00 until 7:00 pm Monday, December 2, 2013 at Soller-Baker Lafayette, 400 Twyckenham Blvd., Lafayette, IN 47909. A private family graveside service will be held at Dayton Cemetery.
